Nothing has really changed since yesterday in terms of my nutrition grade (the teacher has not even warranted me an email response at this time) or the amount of french homework I have to do. The difference is that today I am trying to not let it get the best of me. As my dear running buddy Bridget would say, “keep calm and carry on.”

(Part 2 of last night’s dinner: 1 cup lentil vegetable soup, 1 slice sesame bread, 1/2 tbsp butter, and an organic tomato.)
So that is what I am going to do. Starting right now by sharing happier news. Remember the other day (before my latest meltdown) when I told y’all that my friend Sarah Beth did something radical? I meant to share the great news yesterday but my bad attitude got the best of me and I was in no mood to write a happy post.

(Dessert: Three Sisters Dark Chocolate Oatmeal [review to come]).
Anyways, the big news is that Sarah Beth signed up for her 1st half-marathon the night before she left!!

(Crazy girl!)
I was really taken aback by her eagerness to start running. She is one of the few people I called through the highs and lows of my training period, so I think I may have had something to do with her catching the running bug. Like me, she has never really run a legitimate race (until this happened). But we are both extremely stubborn people (it makes for interesting fights, let me tell you) so I know that she will take this whole thing very seriously.

(Breakfast: 1/2 cup oats, 1 scoop chia seeds, 1/2 scoop protein powder, 1/2 tbsp almond butter, cinnamon, and water.)
We spent much of our weekend (when we were not drinking
) talking about running and what is involved in preparing for a half-marathon. I’m sure my various speeches about how running changed my life were enough to drive her crazy, but apparently it just solidified that this was a goal she wanted to work toward.
I could not be more excited for her, seriously. The minute we returned from our Monday morning run, I printed her the same training schedule I used and wrote all of my favorite motivating quotes all over the page! You may call it obnoxious, but I call it inspired.

(“Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far they can go.”~T.S. Elliot)

(Overkill? Nah…)
Furthermore, we have had several discussions regarding My Beast and how I could have never trained without it. I am very much a numbers person when it comes to exercise, and the ability to track my progress from the beginning to the end of my training plan has done wonders for my confidence and motivation. So as obnoxious and bulky as he may be, my beast is hands down the best training tool I own.
Sarah Beth is now in the market for something similar, except she would prefer to have a smaller version. I do not know of any that are in the same price range (around $150) so I am calling on you guys for help! What kind of running watch do you use? She wants one that will track distance, pace, calories ext.

(Lunch: 2 slices sesame bread, vegetable burger, 1/2 avocado + salsa, tomato, salt, pepper, and a carrot.)
Sarah Beth will be running the Little Rock half-marathon mere weeks before I run my 2nd half, The Suntrust National in D.C. Therefore, I anticipate us going through a lot of the highs and lows of training together. Even though we will not be able to train side by side, having someone who can relate to what you are going through is invaluable and I am flattered to be that person for her (and her for me).
Alright, time to inhale some lunch and head out for the second half of a very busy Wednesday!
Until next time,
~Jenn
Question: What is your favorite piece of “gear”? It doesn’t have to relate to running at all, I just want to know about the great fitness finds I may not know about.
*Also, let me know if you are aware of any other running watches that are to die for
