I should know better…

Thursdays are what I like to call “my day of rest.” Between personal training and my other job as a gym attendant I have some pretty long days. But not on Thursdays. They are all mine.

I woke up yesterday morning to the request of my Smutha Mutha to act as her personal trainer while she ran on the treadmill. After my favorite breakfast and a moment to confess my love of Oprah we headed to the gym for a little one on one time.

(Breakfast: 2 slices Ezekiel bread, 1 tbsp crunchy peanut butter, banana, and cinnamon)

She will be coming with me during the Disney Marathon weekend extravaganza and has grand plans to run the half-marathon the day before I run the full. So I spent some quality time explaining the fundamentals of running. We covered everything from how to prevent heel striking, what to do with your arms, to why it is important to cross train. I think I have Smutha Mutha convinced about the benefits of cross-training. I worry that she will get injured if she keeps logging mile after mile on the treadmill. Variety is the spice of life, Smutha Mutha.

(Thanks Wikipedia for the picture. I was too busy sweating to be bothered with photography.)

After taking off my personal trainer hat, I headed to the Arkansas River trail for a mid-length run. The weather was just too perfect to stay in the gym. I snacked on a Fitbloggin’ swag item while I drove to my starting point.

I’ve read a couple other reviews of the 22 Days vegan protein bars, so I had high hopes that this would be scrumptious. I thought the flavor was decent enough and I liked that I could see real pumpkin seeds in the mix, but the bar was a bit greasy. I ate it anyway (go figure), and promptly set off for 7 miles.

It was a decent run thanks to the new Lady Gaga CD. That woman may take creepy pictures but she sure does make some mean running music.

Once I could hear in both ears again, I refueled with a green monster and boatloads of cereal. I should know better than to eat cereal straight from the box. It always leads to overeating…always.

To burn off the excess carb-age I consumed I headed to Target. Without a list.Do you know where this is going? I know Gretchen does.

I blew through a $50 gift card and then some. But on the bright side I got some great stuff!

I also bought a cute dress that I neglected to photograph.

I spent the rest of the night relaxing on the back porch enjoying the weather. These days will soon be a figment of my imagination.

Questions: Does anyone else find Target to be a money suck? I can’t be the only one!

What is your favorite running song of the moment?

  1. It’s a money trap! But you always end up with such amazing things from Target. The constant dilemma in my life, le sigh. And yeah, I totally felt the same way about the pumpkin seed 22 Days bar — it was greasy and only tasted okay. But the nut butter crunch one I got was awesome!!

I don’t know if I have ever gone to Target and not spend way more than intended. They have everything I want!

You should try working at Target. Sometimes it feels like I pay them to work there. I would like to thank all you for shopping at Target and giving me some job security :)

I overeat when I eat ANYTHING out of the packaging… unless it’s a single serve package. Ah such is the way…

Cereal is so easy for me to overeat too. It’s one of the few things I actually measure out for myself because I can never eyeball an appropriate portion size. That, peanut butter, and hummus. Although it’s always more than what one serving is on the box. Because that’s just measly. LOL

I can’t go to target without spending $100. I’m not sure how it happens….
