NYC 2013

And just like that, another trip is over and the grind begins again. Although I am set to report for my first day of work this morning, my head is very much still in vacation mode from this weekend. For a trip that was planned a mere 24 hours in advance, we sure had a heck of a good time!

Friday afternoon we set off for the big apple in my car with nothing but open road ahead of us.

Soon enough we arrived and I was so glad Josh was driving. I am NOT a city driver. We found the hotel easy enough and set out for dinner shortly thereafter.

We walked around Little Italy for a while getting beckoned by restauranteurs promising the best meal ever before settling on a place. I don’t recall the name but I do know that I had a delicious spicy shrimp and marinara dish that hit the spot.

After dinner we set out to find the best canoli in Little Italy. We bought some from two different bake shops and had a canoli off in the hotel room.

The one on the right was hands down the winner. I also got a mini red-velvet cake that I ignored once I tried the canoli. :)

After a restful night’s sleep we awoke on Saturday morning determined to conquer much of the city by foot. We began with coffee and a stroll through Bryant park before heading to Greenwich village for brunch.

We ate at a restaurant called Maurice’s. I ordered the egg white omelet with broccoli and a pancake while Josh had the challah french toast. His was better. :)

We strolled through Washington Square park…

…and a great bookshop before stopping to refuel on some fresh-pressed green juice.

We continued on through Chinatown which was a complete cluster bomb. So.Many.People. I about lost it at that point so we grabbed a subway train and headed back toward the hotel.

But not before making a stop at Grand Central station! It’s just like the movies!! :)

We made one last stop at the will-call box office for our evening show, Newsies!

This post is already getting long so I will save dinner and the show’s recap for another post. With that I am headed to work. Wish me luck!!
