Sundays are for…

…Sleeping in.

I passed out way early last night thanks to a little too much fun on Friday night. I crawled into bed around 9pm to read my latest book about the first two years of Elizabeth I’s reign and was out like a light about 30 minutes later. I didn’t wake up until just before 9am today. That means I slept about12 hours and it was glorious.

…Running

This morning I set out to do my long run of the week. Originally I planned to do 9 miles around DC. But I was under a time crunch so I adjusted my plans and ran 6.46 in 1:06. I was so so pleased with stats. I’ve been averaging around 11 minute miles lately so I am not sure where this came from. I felt fast and confident the entire time. I am very excited to see that my workouts and speed work is paying off. So although there was no distance record to be had today I felt very accomplished.

…Brunching.

We tried a new place in the Del Ray neighborhood of Virginia called FireFlies. They had live bluegrass music, an intimate, cozy feeling interior and an innovative menu. What more can you ask for?

I ordered the BSLT: Bacon, salmon, lettuce, and tomato (san mayo). I don’t know why I have never thought to combine bacon and salmon because it was awesome! My first sandwich actually came with mayo so I sent it back. It was no big deal but they were so apologetic and even gave us a coupon for a free pizza the next time we return. With that kind of service and such a delicious menu it won’t take long for us to go back!

…Trader Joe’s.

Trader Joe’s on a Sunday is a mess. There is no other way around it. Our game plan is always to get in and out as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, that really isn’t possible when the line backs up so far you are waiting in the aisle. It really wasn’t a big deal until the people behind us got into a fight. one accused the other of cutting the line. It was uncomfortable to watch.

…Cooking.

We have Chef Bob’s cornflake chicken on the agenda for the night along with roasted vegetables and potatoes. It is one of my all time favorite recipes and I can’t wait to make tons of leftovers to carry us through the first half-of the week!

Question: What is your Sunday for?

Congrats on the run today! I know I am always excited when I am able to improve on my speed. It’s a great feeling of accomplishment.
My Sundays are for relaxing and getting grocery shopping done. Sometimes, if I have the day off of work, they are used for long runs.
