Friday night: Dinner at Extra Virgin in Shirlington. I had a craving for mussels that I couldn’t quit and my guy delivered!

Then Fro-yo happened. Light on the yogurt, heavy on the toppings! Don’t worry, I counted all of this in MyFitnessPal!
Saturday:
Out into the cold for 9 miles. This was one of the best runs I’ve had in months.

The run served as a HUGE confidence boost for my half-marathon and overall fitness goals. I almost turned back 1/2 mile in since I was so cold but boy am I glad I sucked it up!
A few hours later my hunger roared its ugly head and I inhaled a Chipotle salad and split the cookies below with Josh while waiting for our cars to be serviced.

I mention the car because while waiting in the shop I started playing around with Vine, the newest social media app. You can follow people and the point is to post short videos of whatever you have going on. I am already addicted and Gatsby is my main subject!

Later that evening, my guy and I headed out for a night on the town. We began at Nora, which is billed as America’s first certified organic restaurant.

The meal was unbelievable. We both opted for the 5-course tasting menu and sampled everything from crab and avocado salad to filet mignon. It was a delicious treat!
Following dinner we rushed over to U-Street to catch the play, The MotherF*cker with the Hat. Did the title catch you? It did the same for me.

It was a poignant and humorous look at people dealing with addiction. We sat right up front and felt like we were inside their struggles. Definitely worth checking out if you have the opportunity.
Sunday:
Picture this scene: It’s 7:30AM on Sunday morning and I have powdered sugar down my shirt and chocolate on my face. I wake up my guy and he starts laughing at me. It’s all in the name of SuperBowl food!

We went to our friend’s place to watch the game and the chow was a hit. I subbed Sunflower Seed butter for traditional peanut butter due to an allergy in the family. ‘Twas delicious!
I went home to cook and clean for a few hours. Once I came out of my OCD daze I was left with a spotless room and 2 pans of roasted veggies to help make the work-week a bit easier.

I’m not much for sports but I just have to share a photo of the smallest Raven’s fan in the family. Micah was hilarious last night (we Facetimed) and very glad his team came out on top!

Monday is once again upon us and I am looking forward to making healthy choices and lots of sweaty workouts this week. It’s all about balance after an indulgent weekend!
Question: What was the best part of your weekend?

No doubt the best part of our weekend was having Micah Robert show up in his own Raven’s Jersey and laughing and squealing throughout the evening…..He is 7 months old tomorrow and so much FUN! We are truly blessed…..
What a fun weekend! It’s always rewarding when a run you don’t really want to do in the beginning turns out to be a great one. Makes me feel like I need to get out there for a long run in this cold!
