1. It’s official. Emmie is in food processor heaven. Don’t judge me for mourning the loss of my appliance. It was my first real kitchen tool after college and was handed down in good faith from Chef Bob.
I was halfway through making a delicious batch of hummus on Monday night when Emmie started smoking and violently shaking. I figured she just needed to shake of her cobwebs and then I figured out I was wrong.
So I finished making the hummus in the blender but I am not happy about it. Anyone want to buy me a Vitamix? I hear it’s a cure all.
2. My new favorite snack is the aforementioned hummus along with Trader Joe’s Savory Thin Mini Edamame Crackers. Oh man, you guys. There are 38 crackers in a serving which equates to a mere 120 calories! I feel like I have stumbled upon something good here and I’m starting to think it is time for a little giveaway for those of you that do not live near a Trader Joe’s. Keep an eye out for one in the next week or so!
Do you watch this show?! It is pretty vulgar (especially the most recent episode…think lots of nudity) but the dialogue is so relatable for a post-college 20 something trying to find his or her way in the world. My favorite line last night “Look sad…not like Toy Story sad, but sad.” I think Lena Dunham is a bold genius. She does not have the ideal body image and yet has no qualms about being naked on camera. I really admire that regardless of how uncomfortable it is to watch. Rant over.
4. I made Josh and I pizza last night. Mine was loaded with spinach, veggies and nutritional yeast.
I was so proud of myself for making us go to my apartment for dinner rather than opting to eat out. Were trying to save money and eat healthier so this was the obvious choice but let me tell you, my willpower and patience to deal with dinner while sitting in traffic disappears so quickly!
But we powered through traffic and sucked it up. And it was delicious. So delicious, until I looked it up in My Fitness Pal and realized the dough was nearly 500 calories. :/
Sigh. You live and learn I suppose.
