Suck It Up Saturday: What Racing Is Really About

Racing season is upon us! Today is the Rock n’ Roll Half-Marathon and you can feel the excitement in the air! Yes, road closures are mildly annoying but I just love seeing all the runners. The fact that big races are in always held in D.C. is one of my favorite things about living here.

In honor of today race, all my blogging buddies running it (good luck Alex!), and for all the beautiful spring races to come I want to share one of my favorite running quotes. Before my first half-marathon a friend of mine called to share some advice that stuck with me all these years. So in case you weren’t reading this blog in 2010 (really, who was!?) I’m re-sharing a classic Suck It Up Saturday post.

I like to think about this quote during particularly ugly moments.

P.S. If you are in the market for your next race you should check out the Zooma Sweepstakes for the chance to win a free race weekend!

“One grand-prize winner will receive a FREE trip for two to Zooma Chicago happening Saturday, August 10. Bring along your BRF (Best Running Friend) & experience a luxurious Chicago weekend getaway like no other. With the motto, “Serious racing. Serious celebrating.”, ZOOMA races are the ideal active girlfriends’ getaway.”

Sounds like a great time!
