Good morning and happy Friday! I’m writing this in the wee hours of the morning after a short treadmill workout. I’m not a huge fan of waking up at an ungodly hour to knock out my workout because I find that the tradeoff’s are usually not worth it. For one thing, I find myself in a slump by 11 AM that no amount of coffee can fix. More importantly, running first thing in the AM and then spending the rest of the day at my desk gives me a serious case of the munchies that I can’t seem to shake no matter how hard I try.
(3 miles in 32:30)
That said, I am trying to adjust to morning runs because soon I will be able to wake up a lot later to get them in. With no commute (can I get a hallelujah?!) it is going to be feasible to actually run in the mornings without feeling sleep deprived. I look forward to that day! As for the food aspect of things, well I am still a work in progress.
I managed to do 3 days of 3 mile runs so all that stands between me and crossing off Week 1 of my training plan is 6 miles tomorrow. I’m excited to officially be 1 week down!
On a totally different note, I had dinner with a good friend of mine at Pho 14 last night. I discovered the gloriousness that is Vietnamese cuisine a few months back and have had a permanent craving ever since! I think this restaurant is the best in the District. This was her first time trying it out and I think I made her a convert.
How can you go wrong with rice noodles, tofu, veggies, and plenty of hoisin sauce? I think of all the things that make me sad about leaving D.C. not seeing this girl’s face every day is going to be the hardest. We’ve been through quite a few highs and lows together (we even got laid off from LivingSocial the same day!) and somehow have come through unscathed. From customer service reps all the way to our current company, I am so glad to have her as a friend and co-worker!
Since it is Friday, I thought I would leave you all with a workday jam. This song came on my Pandora station the other day and I can’t get enough.
Check it out if you need a little boost during your workday!
Question: What is your favorite kind of Pho?
