This weekend was all about finishing touches and turning our apartment into a home. We didn’t have any specific plans except for a play Saturday night so we were able to slow down and do all those things that have been pushed by the wayside with my guy’s heavy course load and my busy week at work!
Friday night we managed to snag tickets to see Gravity in 3D. Since it was an earlier showtime, my guy picked up a pizza from Aeillo’s and we ate at home before heading to the theater.
As for the movie, well I really enjoyed the special effects but I can’t say the same for the storyline.
Saturday morning started slowly and I didn’t get on the road for my long road until after 10. It was pretty warm by then, with temps in the high-70s, and humid as all get out! My 9 mile run was terrible and I walked a lot! I am still getting used to all the hills in Pittsburgh. They are unavoidable it seems.
Fortunately I had a strong 5 miler today that has set my mind at ease.
Once I showered and had a solid nap under my belt, my guy and I hung a few of my new purchases.
I am in love with my Scoutmob purchases.
We didn’t have time to finish all the hanging projects since we had a play to attend. We went to Murray Avenue Grill for dinner and I had a huge salmon salad with a side of sweet potato fries.
The fries are to die for. So crispy and delicious!
The play we saw, called Our Town by Thornton Wilder, was thought provoking and insightful. I find myself thinking about it often as it forces you to look at the monotony and simplicity of everyday life as the moments that really matter.
Sunday was one of those days I just didn’t want to end. We had a slow start to the day but once we got going we headed out to the ‘burbs to check out the mother of all Giant Eagles…”Market District.”
I’d liken the store to Wegman’s in that it has every product you could need or want. We did some serious damage and I found it a miracle that we had enough cabinet space for everything!
Back home, we put final touches on the apartment and I got down in the kitchen making homemade enchiladas.
The sauce we bought was actually foul so the meal was pretty much inedible.
Fortunately I had homemade guacamole as a backup so all was not lost. The night ended with a screening of The Great Gatsby. The pup (named Gatsby) was not amused.
I feel like out house is finally coming together and I find myself really loving life in Pittsburgh so far! Here’s to another great week!
